Neurobiology and Behavior

Treefish (Sebastes serriceps) were one of the animals used in this experiment. (Credit: Garfield Kwan)

This project studies neurological mechanisms in marine animals, their involvement in behavioral responses, and how (if?) they are affected by environmental stress such as pollution, ocean acidification and algal blooms. We work with several species of fish (e.g. rockfishes (Sebastes spp), black perch (Embiotoca jacksoni), as well as with invertebrates (e.g. shore crab Pachygrapsus crassipes). This is a collaborative project with Dr. Trevor Hamilton (MacEwan University, Canada).
