Born and raised in San Jose, California, Daniel Jio is a 1st-year Master’s student in the Marine Biology track currently studying coral aquarium systems for both growth and experimentation. He also attended UCSD for his B.S. in Marine Biology. Many visits to the Monterey Bay Aquarium while young inspired him to pursue the field of Marine Biology. Recently he has volunteered in animal care there as well, gaining interest in working with aquarium systems. There he mainly worked in the Kelp and Splash Zones, encompassing both the kelp forest habitats of California as well as warm water coral-type environments.
